Oliva V Lancero

About a year ago I did a series of reviews on the Nashville Cigar Club forum called “Don Quixote’s Last Ride: A Lancero Experiment”. At that point in time I was still smoking cigars that only came in 56-60 ring gauge. I had yet to really develop an enjoyment for better things. Little did I know that this experiment would literally change what I smoked.

The cigar that changed my opinion was the Oliva V Lancero. Since that time I have maintained a good supply of these relatively inexpensive smokes in my humidor. These cigars, like most Oliva products, really do not get better, or worse with time. They stay relatively consistent, so if you forget about them, it’s no big deal one way or the other.

For some basic information about the entire V Line, check out Oliva cigars website here: http://olivacigar.com/serie_v_oliva_cigar.aspx

What this cigar delivers is everything a full body smoker wants. Because of the small size, the complex flavors of the V are really at the front of every single puff. A lot of smokers will simply walk by a Lancero size, and grab something else. In the case of the Oliva V Lancero, you are really missing out if you enjoy the line. The size really did not warrant a long winded review, I just think it deserved a spot on my list. If you like a good ligero filled cigar, grab a few of these and puff away.

  1. I definitely think the Oliva V is the best of the Oliva Series cigars. I have smoked the O and G lines, and find the V to be very flavorful, well-balanced, and smooth. I enjoyed the Oliva V Churchill Extra, which is a bit of a commitment at 7 x 52, but for a cigar that tastes good, I enjoyed it to the nub.

  2. Bought a couple of these to try out based on the review here at http://cigarblog.net and they are pretty good. They are up there with some of my other favorites such as the Bolivar Dominican, Excalibur 1066 and others. They are a very good smoke for the money (although not cheap) and I am always looking for good cigars at reasonable prices. I also purchased a double cigar holder http://cigarholdershop.com, and now I don’t lose any cigars on the golf course and am a very happy camper!

    Just my $0.02 worth.
